Last month, we had the pleasure of welcoming alumni siblings Julia ’25 and Zach ’23 Freer back to campus during a visit to Barcelona. Julia is in her first year at Haverford College, where she is exploring a possible major in English and Psychology. Zach recently returned from a semester abroad in Sydney and is excited to continue his studies in Philosophy and Economics at Brown University. Both are home, spending time with their parents, Peter and Lauren, longtime members of our community, with Lauren also teaching high school English at ASB.
The day was especially memorable because their visit coincided with a visit from Brown University’s oldest a cappella group, The Jabberwocks, which Peter helped facilitate in his role as Co-President of Brown’s Barcelona Alumni Chapter. As an IB Music student at ASB, Julia performed many times on our stage, making it even more meaningful to be in the audience for a change.
It was a joy to see Julia and Zach reconnect with former teachers and friends, and to share in a moment that brought together family, music, and community. We wish them every success as they continue their academic journeys.
