English Learning Center Summer Program celebrates 37 years

Alums help run 2024 summer program.

This year marks the 37th Summer Program run by the English Learning Center (ELC) of the American School of Barcelona - a program for PK to Grade 11 students looking to immerse themselves in English in an engaging and interactive environment. It is also the first year the ELC has offered scholarships for our summer program, with ten being awarded this year.

Led by current faculty member Ms. Meg Holmes, who has been teaching at ASB since 1997, this year's program welcomes more than 360 students from across the globe. Close to 40 staff members, including two alums, Brayden Spencer '22 and Edu Puig '23, support the program. Both alums knew Ms. Meg when they were elementary students, and their mothers, Ms. Michelle Spencer and Ms. Ana Martinez, are also working at the summer program.

As the Media Content Manager, Brayden has been capturing the excitement of the program through his photography and videography skills. He's about to start his third year studying Digital Humanities and Information Technology at the University of Cork in Ireland.

As the ELC Executive Communication Manager, Edu has been instrumental in the smooth running of the program. He works closely with Ms. Meg and the other teachers, bringing his expertise in Advertising, Public Relations, and Event Management. Edu will soon begin his second year at Abat Oliba. He also leads a daily sports session for our young learners.

We love it when former students come back to support us!
