Alum Gino Rubert's latest exhibition opens at El Centre d'Art Tecla Sala

"Art was and continues to be his passion!"

With roots in Mexico, ASB alum Gino Rubert is a Catalan artist known for his eccentric and unclassifiable style. Gino enjoys exploring multiple artistic disciplines: in addition to art, he writes romantic novels, designs clothing, composes summer hits, and even takes to the stage.

Museums, galleries, and art centers around Spain and internationally have displayed his works, including the Walker Art Center (Minneapolis), the National University of Colombia Art Museum (Bogotá), the Akiyoshidai International Art Village (Yamaguchi), the National Art Museum of Catalonia (Barcelona), the Claire Oliver Gallery (New York), the Galerie Michael Haas (Berlin), the Mizuma Gallery (Tokyo) and the Galeria Senda (Barcelona).

Gino has remained friends with former classmate and another ASB alumna and current parent, Sylvia Pages, who attended school with him until Grade 7 in the mid-1980s, initially at the Sor Eulalia Anzizu campus and later at the current Esplugues campus. She remembers Gino was always very creative at school and that he used to draw on his desk. "It was and continues to be his passion!" Sylvia joined ASB's Director of Alumni Relations, Michelle Collin, and Head of Community Service, Marta Vernet, to visit Gino's latest exhibition, Fatamorgana (click here for more information), at Centre d'Art Tecla Sala in Barcelona, which is showing until the end of February 2023.
