A surprise visit from the early 2000s!

Alum Santiago Bollag Beron attended the American School of Barcelona from Kindergarten to Grade 4. His family moved to Santa Barbara, California, in Grade 5, and Santi completed his education in the United States. He attended Chapman University following high school, obtaining a degree in Strategic and Corporate Communications, and works as an accountant today.

Santi's mother, Paula, who joined the visit, was an active parent while they were part of our community. Paula remembers helping Ms. Bronwyn with the first elementary play and recalls former Elementary Principal, Ms. Nancy Boyd, and former Director, Ms. Ettie Ziber.

The duo have fond memories of their time at ASB and friends Alex Bernaus Johnson, Dorian Babunsk, Mark Pamia, Max Holschuh, and Maria and Laura Sabaté Vernet. They were surprised with how much the campus had changed but thrilled to meet familiar faces during their visit, including ASBs long-standing guard, Manuel, Mr. Volchok (Assistant Director), Ms. Christina (ECC Principal), Ms. Erin (ECC teacher), Ms. Meg Holmes (ELC Director), Ms. Marta Vernet (Head of Community Service), Ms. Marta Aguayo (Catalan teacher), Ms. Susan Fleming (Librarian), Ms. Elena Gutierrez (HR Administrator) and Mr. Chema (School Chef).

Keep in touch, Santi, and we look forward to having you join our 60th-anniversary celebrations on June 8!
