Paella, Smiles, and 30 Years with Chef Chema

Thank you for three decades of meals, laughter, and community.

At the end of the 2024–2025 school year, we said goodbye (and a very big thank you!) to our wonderful Head Chef, Chema Sierra, as he retired after 30 years with the American School of Barcelona.

Since 1995, Chema has been at the heart of our community, serving countless delicious meals, welcoming alumni back with his familiar smile, and filling every day with warmth and joy for students and staff. We’ll also always remember his legendary paellas at our annual International Day celebrations.

Chema, thank you for everything you’ve given us. We’ll miss your cooking, your laughter, and the way you made our cafeteria feel like home. Wishing you the happiest retirement. You’ve truly earned it!
