Congratulations to the Class of 2023

97 caps in the air marking this great occasion

It is with great pride and joy that the American School of Barcelona celebrated the accomplishments of our graduating seniors in a much-awaited graduation ceremony on Friday, June 2, 2023.

Graduates were recognized and honored during the event for their hard work, dedication, and achievements. Director Mark Pingitore and Board President Roland Nash gave speeches reflecting on the seniors' incredible journey through high school, symbolizing their transition into the next chapter of their lives.

Guest speaker, Board Member, and graduate parent Angela Bonifacie imparted words of wisdom that helped her navigate "this wonderful world of ours."

Ms. Anca Niculescu and Mr. Daniel Whitehair gave heartfelt speeches to their students with just the right touch of entertainment. Mr. Daniel also gave a nod to leaving high school teachers, Mr. Mark Smith (39 years), Mr. Alberto Ramirez (9 years), Mr. Micah Cook (7 years), and Dr. Dorothy Ginnet (4 years). We will all miss having these exceptional individuals in our classrooms next year.

High School Principal, Mr. Omar Ugalde, presented ninety-seven seniors with their diplomas with Ms. Charmaine Monds, IB Coordinator, and Ms. Magda Montesinos, Spanish Technical Director, in addition to recognizing many students for their accomplishments in front of their peers, families, and teachers.

Student performers, singers Luiza de Andrade Saad, Giulia Schuster, Maria Martínez, pianist Meilynn Poma, violinist Mi Jin Yoon, and pianist Lang Liu entertained attendees with their talented musical ensembles before a memorable graduation video created by Meilynn Poma was shared.

Finally, student-selected peers Elisabeth Van Meer and Yann Grechez came to deliver a meaningful and charismatic Student Address.

We thank the Class of 2023 for their outstanding contributions to our school community and also extend our appreciation to their families and our dedicated staff, who have supported them throughout their educational journey.

Congratulations, Class of 2023! We look forward to celebrating your achievements and wish you continued success in all your future endeavors.
