Grade 11 CAS student project at Lorena Canals '79 HQ

Alumni involved in the learning of ASB students.

Ms. Marta Vernet, ASB's Head of Community Service and Activities, has led a group of nine Grade 11 students to commence a service project at the HQ of ASB alumna and renowned textile designer Lorena Canals '79 in neighboring St. Just Desvern. Lorena is the mother of alumnae Olimpia '11 and Carolina '16, founders of the natural teethers and textile toy brand Oli&Carol.

The ten-week project allows ASB juniors to serve as English teachers to the employees of Lorena Canals. In contrast, the employees gain mentorship experience by sharing their work within the company's various departments. Lorena Canals currently exports textiles to more than 60 countries and is a family business. The program is another excellent example of a sustainable community partnership of ASB.
