Amsterdam Alumni Reunion Brings Generations of ASB Together

We were fortunate to enjoy beautiful weather for our Amsterdam Alumni Reunion in April. While the gathering was smaller than in previous years due to exams, travel, and other commitments, we were delighted to welcome alumni spanning four decades, from the Class of 1985 through to the Class of 2025. Several joined us from across the Netherlands, and even from abroad, including Eva Sanchez '85, who traveled all the way from Glasgow. We were also pleased to welcome former teacher Ms. Kat Frey, now at the International School of Amsterdam, who enjoyed reconnecting with former colleagues and students.

The more intimate setting gave us the chance to truly catch up and hear where life has taken everyone since their time at ASB. It also created space for alumni across generations to meet, exchange contacts, and form new connections, all rooted in their shared experience of living in Spain and attending the American School of Barcelona.

As Marta Vernet '85 shared: "What a unique reunion it was. The nature of it allowed for deeper conversations and connections with those who were once youth and are now young adults!"

Café Luxembourg was a wonderful venue, and the evening ran well beyond schedule, which felt like a great sign of how much everyone enjoyed being together.

Our sincere thanks to Ms. Marta Vernet '85 and Ms. Ana Martinez, who joined Alumni Relations Director Michelle Collin in making this gathering in the heart of Amsterdam so special. We are especially grateful to Ms. Ana, our IB Art teacher, who handwrote name tags for many of her former students. It was a thoughtful touch that made the evening feel even more personal.
