ASB Alumni Reunite at Haverford and Swarthmore

Alumni Julia Freer and Eloise Franz reunite to celebrate friendship, resilience, and lasting ASB ties.

It was a wonderful ASB reunion at Haverford College’s Family & Friends Weekend! Julia Freer (ASB Class of 2025, Haverford College ’29) caught up with Eloise Franz (ASB Class of 2022, Swarthmore College ’26).

Eloise, now a senior at Swarthmore majoring in Economics and Psychology, continues to shine both academically and athletically. A standout player on the Swarthmore women’s varsity soccer team, currently ranked 12th in the country, she had been enjoying a strong final season until October 8, when she sustained a knee injury during a game tackle. Although the timing made the setback especially difficult, her resilience and positive spirit continue to inspire her teammates. We wish her much success as she undergoes knee reconstruction surgery in Barcelona in December, followed by several weeks of rehabilitation before returning to Swarthmore.

While at ASB, Eloise played soccer for both the school and Levante Football Club, and still remembers the thrilling match in Valencia where she saved the final goal during penalties to secure victory for ASB!

Julia, now in her first year at Haverford, where she is considering majoring in English and/or Psychology, was equally active at ASB: a Max Courage finalist, NESDA Public Speaking finalist, and TEDxASB speaker with her talk “Friends for Life.” Beyond academics, Julia was deeply involved in ASB’s extracurricular life as contributor to the ASB Newspaper, Blue & Read; Co-Founder of The Moth at ASB; a dedicated member of the AMIS High School Honor Choir and ASB Choir; and a frequent performer at Open Mic and IB Music Concerts.

Julia attended ASB from Grades 2 through 12, and Eloise from Grades 6 through 12, building lasting friendships and connections that continue to thrive, even internationally. Adding to the ASB ties, Julia’s mother, Mrs. Freer, who teaches high school English at ASB, also taught Eloise in 9th grade!

With Haverford and Swarthmore both part of the Tri-Co Consortium (along with Bryn Mawr College), it’s heartwarming to see our ASB alumni community connecting and cheering each other on.
