Alumni Spotlight: Betty Escura ’11

Nurturing Growth, One Tiny Riot at a Time

When you talk with Betty Escura ’11, you immediately feel her calm determination, the kind that blends ambition with care. Her path from ASB to founding Tiny Riots, a children’s nutrition start-up, is a story rooted in family, resilience, and purpose.

After graduating from ASB, Betty built a career in Revenue Growth Management, a field focused on how companies grow sustainably. She worked at AB InBev, Kellogg’s, and Reckitt, gaining a deep understanding of how businesses operate and evolve. But behind her professional path lies a more personal influence - the women in her family.

Betty’s mother, María José de Esteban Ferrer ’76, is also an ASB alumna. Her grandfather, Pedro de Esteban Altirriba, served as ASB’s first Board President. Her sister Marta ’17, her cousins, and now her niece Sofia, have all been part of the ASB community.

“The women in my family have always led by example,” Betty says. “They showed me you can build a career, raise a family, and still make space for what matters most.”

That belief sits at the heart of Tiny Riots, which Betty describes as both a professional mission and a personal legacy. The idea was born during the early days of motherhood.

“In the middle of sleepless nights and endless feedings, I realized something. Feeding my baby shouldn’t feel so complicated,” she says. “I got tired of having to choose between fast or healthy, between cooking or spending time together as a family.”

From that realization came Tiny Riots, a company focused on making children’s nutrition simple, nourishing, and sustainable for busy families.

Starting something new hasn’t been easy. Betty laughs when describing her daily routine: “I usually start my day around 5 a.m. so I can wrap up in time to spend the afternoon at the park with my kids. It’s not easy, but I love showing them that you can chase big dreams and still be present.”

Even before its official launch, Tiny Riots has already made an impact. During one of their early product tests, a moment stuck with her.
“One tester, who had just come home from the hospital, told me Tiny Riots ‘saved her.’ She said it made those early days just a little easier. That’s when I knew we were onto something meaningful.”

Looking back, Betty sees how much ASB shaped her approach to leadership. “ASB taught me to think globally and lead with empathy,” she says. “Values like curiosity, community, and resilience weren’t just posters on the wall; they became part of who I am.”

When asked what she hopes families take away from Tiny Riots, Betty doesn’t hesitate. “I hope it helps families build healthy habits without stress,” she says. “When kids see balanced eating modeled at home, it sticks. We just want to make that easier.”

Her advice for current ASB students and young alumni dreaming of building something of their own? “Don’t wait until you feel ready, you’ll never be,” she says with a smile. “Start small, keep learning, and surround yourself with people who push and support you. Stay curious and true to your values, that’s what gets you through the hard days.”

What she treasures most from her ASB years are the friendships that have lasted over a decade. “Many of my closest friends today, like Dunia Hernández Navarro and Jade de Robles,  are the same people I met at ASB. Those bonds are something I’ll always be grateful for.”

As for what’s next, Betty envisions a future where Tiny Riots becomes part of daily family life. “In five years, I hope Tiny Riots isn’t seen as a ‘nice-to-have,’ but something families just rely on, a small helper that gives them back what matters most: time together.”
